NEWSLETTER #155                                                                                                                     MARCH  2017

  … On

Classmates,

I remember saying in my opening to you last month, how long it seemed to be since last we talked - Feb. Newsletter. Now we are already to open the door on the month of March. I thought about doing something historical, talking about the Ides of March, Daylight Savings, or even March Madness. But that really isn’t my style, so as usual I’m branching off into another arena for the March Newsletter.

I would be remiss if I didn’t list a few of the events that have a connection with March. So, let’s “MARCH...ON”

• Ash Wednesday
• Spring
• Daylight Saving Time (DST)
• St. Patrick’s Day
• March Madness
• Many Animals Wake Up From Hibernation
• Easter in March - sometimes (31 March 2013 / 27 March 2016)
• Irish American Month
• March was named for Mars, the Roman God of War
• Beware The Ides of March

Now with that being said, let’s “March...On” with our Newsletter.

•  The Website For The “Fork” Home Page is: http://www.rizon.biz/Aragon/AragonHomePage.htm. *
* If that doesn’t work for you, just contact me by e-mail at ddlvr55@gmail.com or phone (702) 656-1696

•  The “Connections And Reconnections (C/R) Section” - Connected or Reconnected with a Classmate or just want to contact a Classmate, but don’t have a any contact information? Let me know (see above). This section still remains active, each and every month.

•  “Who Said That - Movie Quote Addition” (WST - MQA) - this site is a lot of fun for me to coordinate each month.
Many of you come up with correct answers, they just come in too late. The first week of a new month is the time for you to scan your monthly Newsletter and get your answer(s) to me - ASAP.

          •  FEBRUARY’S QUOTE:  “ALL RIGHT, MICKEY’S A MOUSE, DONALD’S A DUCK, PLUTO’S A DOG. WHAT’S GOOFY?”

          •  THE FEBRUARY ANSWER IS: “STAND BY ME”  and the actor is “WIL WHEATON”

          •  THE WINNER IS: GARY ROCKLAGE

          •  MARCH’S QUOTE:  “BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID.”

*REMEMBER YOU NEED THE NAME OF THE MOVIE AND THE NAME AND/OR NAMES OF THE ACTOR(S) WHO SAID THE QUOTE. SEND YOUR ANSWER TO ddlvr55@gmail.com   ASAP!

•  “The Bucket List (B/L) Challenge” - The B/L Remains On Sabbatical! OK, I need your assistance to bring this back to life...this is on “life support!”  I would hate to see this go away; but, if no assistance comes forward soon we will let it go!

Hooah, Hugs & Love, Now Let’s “MARCH...ON” - Bob

“Seenager: Senior Teenager” #10
Contributed by Bruce Ahlvin    (Yes you are!)

I am a Seenager aka a Senior Teenager

• I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 70 years later.
• I don't have to go to school or work.
• I get an allowance every month.
• I have my own pad.
•I don't have a curfew.
• I have a driver's license and my own car.
• I have a ID that gets me into bars and the wine store...I like the wine store best.
• The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they aren’t scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared.
• And I don't have acne.
• Life is Good! Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this, if you are a Seenager.
• Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains. Scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing, as it puts pressure on your inner ear.

“Be Careful”    #11
Contributed by Alan, Alan, Alan Swenson
(Don’t worry Charlene, Bob put my name on this way - yes I did!)

This one is priceless. A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong e-mail address!

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.
Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.
The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an e-mail to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her e-mail address, and without realizing his error, sent the e-mail.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a Baptist minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack. The widow decided to check her e-mail expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I've Arrived
Date: March 1, 2017

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send e-mails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in. I've seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

P. S. Sure is freaking hot down here!!!

“The Back Nine”    #12
Contributed by Gary Rocklage
(Rock, sometimes I feel like I’m heading for the club house!)

I FIRST STARTED READING THIS E-MAIL & WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE. I STOPPED AND STARTED OVER READING SLOWER AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD.  THIS E-MAIL IS VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING. MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK. READ SLOWLY!

You know...time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just like yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

But, here it is...the back nine of my life and it catches me by surprise. How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go?

I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that I was only on the first hole and the back nine was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting gray...they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me...but, I see the great change. Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd become.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore...it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will...I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so...now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did! But, at least I know, that though I’m on the back nine, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that when it's over on this earth...it's over. A new adventure will begin! Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.

So, if you're not on the back nine yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether you’re on the back nine or not!

You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!

"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.  LIVE IT WELL!  ENJOY TODAY!  DO SOMETHING FUN!  BE HAPPY! HAVE A GREAT DAY!  Remember, it is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. LIVE HAPPY IN 2017!

LASTLY, CONSIDER THIS:

• Your kids are becoming you...but your grandchildren are perfect!
• Going out is good...Coming home is better!
• You forget names...but it's OK because some people forgot they even knew you!
• You realize you're never going to be really good at anything like golf.
• The things you used to care to do, you aren't as interested in anymore, but you really do care that you aren't as interested.
• You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV 'ON' than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".
• You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch.
• You tend to use more 4 letter words..."what?"..."when?"...???
• You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!
• What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
• Everybody whispers.
• You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet...2 of which you will never wear again.

• But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Old movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS! Stay well, "OLD FRIEND!" Send this on to other "Old Friends!" and let them laugh in AGREEMENT! “It's Not What You Gather, But What You Scatter, That Tells What Kind Of Life You Have Lived.”

• TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN; YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

Celebrate life every day since it has an unknown expiration date!
