“Every Time You See Canada: Think USA”    #3
Contributed by Ted Dumke
[Why Canada & not the U.S.A.?]

My fellow Canadians [think the U.S.A.]... So many letter writers have explained how this land is made up of immigrants. Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people why today's Canadian is  not willing to accept the new kind of immigrant any longer.  Nothing was handed to them.  No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to  protect them.  All they had were the skills, craftsmanship and desire they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out.
Canadians fought alongside men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France, Japan, China, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Sweden, Poland and so many other places.

None of these first generation Canadians ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Canadians fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan.  They were defending the Freedom as one people.  When we liberated France, no one in those villages was looking for the Ukrainian-Canadian or the German-Canadian or the Irish-Canadian.  The people of France saw only Canadians.  And we carried one flag that represented Our Country.  Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had  sacrificed so much to be here.  These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be a Canadian.

They stirred the melting pot into one red and white bowl. And here we are in 2016 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges, only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules - one that includes a Canadian passport and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country.  I'm sorry, that's not what being a Canadian is all  about.  Canadians have been very openhearted and open-minded regarding immigrants, whether they were fleeing poverty, dictatorship, persecution, or whatever else makes us think of those aforementioned immigrants who truly did ADOPT our country, our flag, our morals and our customs, and left their wars, hatred, and divisions behind.

I believe that the immigrants who landed in Canada in the early 1900’s deserve better than that for the toil, hard work and sacrifice of those legally searching for a better life.  I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags, fighting foreign battles on our soil, making Canadians change to suit their religions and cultures, and wanting to change our countries fabric by claiming
discrimination when we do not give in to their demands.

It's about time we get real and stand up for our fore fathers’ rights.  We are CANADIAN [think U.S.A.].  We are letting people live here that don't accept our way of life!  WHY?

[I think all of you will appreciate his words.]

Commissioners, I've been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl and the Giants Stadium.  I missed the '90-'91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines in Desert Storm.  14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies.  My last conversation with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella, was about how our Giants were going to the Super Bowl.  He never got to see it.  Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped over their coffins.

Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died for.  They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of real men, men who have actually done something for this country beside playing with a ball and believing they're something special!  They're not!  My Marines and Soldiers were!

You are complicit in this!  You'll fine players for large and small infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation and the fallen to put an  immediate stop to this.  Yes, I know, it's their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner.  What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs publicly?

I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end zone after scoring.  I guess that's much worse than disrespecting the flag and our National  Anthem.  Hmmmmm, isn't it his 1st Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone?  Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK?  You fine players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air.  They are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a freaking game!

You condone it all by your refusal to act.  You're just as bad and disgusting as they are.  I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who supports that rabble you call the NFL.  I hope they turn off the TV when any team that allowed this disrespect to occur, without consequence, on the sidelines.  I applaud those who have not.

Legends and heroes do NOT wear shoulder pads.  They wear body armor and carry rifles.  They make minimum wage and spend months and years away from their families.  They don't do it for an hour on Sunday.  They do it 24/7 often with lead, not footballs, coming in their direction.  They watch their brothers carted off in pieces not on a gurney to get their knee iced.  They don't even have ice!  Many don't have legs or arms.

Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America.  They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down to safety.  On 9-11, hundreds vanished.  They are the heroes.

I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in your own minds.  You need to hit the road and take those worms with you!

Powers originally sent his letter to former Florida congressman Allen West.  West then posted the letter to his news website.  As of last week, at least 18 NFL player had protested the anthem by either kneeling during the anthem or raising their fists, according to USA Today Sports.

“1956 CHEVY - Stolen Car?”        #14
Contributed by Bruce Hellman
[Stolen Car - a good laugh, brings back many old memories!”]

The proud owner of a magnificent 1956 Chevrolet convertible wrote to say he had restored the car to perfection over the last few years, and sent this:

On a very warm summer afternoon he decided to take his car to town.  It needed gas, as the gauge was practically on empty, but he wanted ice cream, so he headed first to his favorite ice cream shop.

He had trouble finding a parking space and had to park the car down a side street.  He noticed a group of young guys standing around smoking cigarettes and eyeing the car rather covetously.  He was a bit uneasy leaving it there, but people often take interest in such an old and well-preserved car, so he went off to enjoy his ice cream.  The line at the ice cream shop was long and it took him quite a while to return to his car.  When he did, his worst fears were realized.  His car was gone.  He called the police and reported the theft and then went back and bought a quart of pistachio ice cream.

About ten minutes later the police called him to say they had found the car abandoned near a gas station a few miles out of town.  It was unharmed and he was relieved.  It seems just before he called, the police had received a call from a young woman who was an employee at a self-service gas station.

She told them that three young men had driven in with this beautiful old convertible.  One of them came to the window and prepaid for  20 dollars worth of gas.  Then all three of them walked around the car.  Then they all got in the car and drove off, without filling the tank.  The question is, “Why would anybody steal a car, pay for gas that they never pumped and then abandon the car later and walk away?”*

This is a powerful video by a Catholic high school in CT. It is a wonderful message. Currently, the world seems to be in a mess and the resisters are promulgating it.  An excellent video made by students who don't say a word. “I Just Realized Something”        #20
Contributed by Ted Dumke

My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day. He has his food prepared for him. His meals are provided at no cost to him. He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup and again during the year, if any medical needs arise.

For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him. He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep. If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.

He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep. He receives these accommodations absolutely free. He is living like a king and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever. All of his costs are picked up by others who earn a living. I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks:
