How about something I don’t think too many of us know about or really
care about. Interesting facts. Manure.. Interesting facts, especially
if you need knowledge of the 16th and 17th Centuries. Manure: In the
16th and 17th centuries, everything for export had to be transported
by ship. It was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers,
so large shipments of manure were quite common.
It was shipped dry, because in dry
form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit
it, not only did it become heavier, but the process of fermentation
began again, of which a by-product is methane gas. As the stuff was
stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did)
happen. Methane began to build up below decks and the first time
someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM! Several ships were
destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was
After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the
instruction ' Stow high in transit ' on them, which meant for the
sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water
that came into the hold would not touch this "volatile" cargo and
start the production of methane. Thus evolved the term “S.H.I.T” ,
(Stow High In Transit)...“So it’s really not a swear word” which has
come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.
You probably did not know the true history of this word.
Neither did I.

“TOWER AIR - QUITE A STORY”
In 1991, at the end of Desert Storm, a 19 yr. old US Army Cavalry
Scout Private who had just spent 8 months at war sat out on a street
at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia.
He sat there on his duffle bag with his Battalion around him for 4
days waiting for the buses to come and take him to the King Fahad
Airport so he could go home. Unfortunately, the politicians of the
day never planned for how to bring so many soldiers home after the war
ended so there was a shortage of planes. Politicians are great at
talking, but terrible at doing.
Finally, the buses came, and took the young man to the airport. The
planes waiting were from Tower Air*. The owner of Tower Air had
volunteered his planes and staff to bring soldiers home for the cost
of fuel only. Happily, the young veteran got home just in time for
Easter weekend in 1991, and spent that time emotionally healing with
friends and family surrounding him. That Private was me, Ron Knouse.
*The owner of TOWER AIR was DONALD J. TRUMP.

I just got off the phone with Elizabeth in Vancouver. SHE SAW IN THE
OBITS THAT LYNN RUTHERFORD died on April 28th. She [Elizabeth] was
living up in B.C. on the SunShine Coast which is north of Vancouver,
(the Secheft area/town). Inhabited by free spirit aka hippies. The
obit said she played the guitar and was a peace activist. Thinking of
her brought back some fond memories. What was the song she sang at our

Aragon high school GRADUATION
SAN MATEO, California
I hope you had many great memories of Graduation as you went through
the articles and information that was put out for you and your memory
banks. Let me know, what were some of your Memories on Graduation
Night, way back in 1964? Are you still in contact with Classmates or
that special person that you might have spent a large majority of time
with back at Aragon? Maybe someone you would meet at the “Library”
while you were studying for a future test? --- “RIGHT!” That
was always a good way to be with that special some-one. How about
your own kids or grandkids and what they thought about High School and
the special ones in their lives. Times have really changed.
Once again, thank you for all you have
done to keep the Aragon Class of 1964, as special as it has remained.
Keep those articles and questions/ information coming in, that is
what keeps us special and moving forward.
“B&B” - Bob and Bonita will be taking
a two month break (July and August), and then we will be back to the
NEWSLETTER for September. Please don’t hesitate to send in your
ARTICLES, QUESTIONS, CLASSMATE CONTACTS, ETC. I will be gathering
info for September. I must tell you that some of the BEST items are
the ones about YOU and YOURS and the “CLASSMATE CONNECTION” that many
of you have used.
Just for your information, some were
upset because of a lack of interest for a 55th Reunion.
Most of you know that it is not a “just say it and we can make it
happen right now.” Reunions take a lot of time, (not days, not even
months, but A YEAR or TWO!). Planning, Money, Contact Classmates,
(the number of which is getting smaller as we are getting older). All
takes time. In order to have a future REUNION on the level of
the 50th, when the word is put out for 6 months and only 9 Classmates
said “YES” and no other Classmates were heard from, that is a “NO
Classmates, if you have any questions,
please contact me( Bob). If anyone is interested in working with the
Monthly Newsletter or has some different thoughts and/or ideas on how
to stay in contact with the Classmates...just contact me, you all
should have my info, and let's talk.
Have an outstanding summer! I do
look forward to being in contact with you in September.
HOOAH, HUGS & LOVE, Bob
THANK-YOU, SAM: I will have some “Fresh Ideas” reference a possible
future Get Together(s). I am anxious to hear what you think
about that. It will be on the front page of the September Newsletter.
If any of you are thinking in this arena, please let me know prior to
the September Newsletter; it will be released on 9/1/2019.
This is my Challenge to you – PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU HAVE COME UP
Hooah, Hugs & Love, Bob
PS: WE CAN STILL HAVE A 55th
REUNION. GET YOUR THOUGHTS IN TO ME, IT STILL CAN BE DONE, TRUST ME!
